Wrong document purchased and linked
Overview
Flinn lets users purchase and link normative documents and papers as evidence. If a payment or external interface returns a document other than the one selected, a user could purchase and rely on the wrong document as evidence for a compliance decision — leading to incorrect evidence in regulatory files, rework, submission delays and unnecessary cost.
Hazardous situation: A user relies on the wrong document as evidence for a compliance decision.
How we mitigate wrong-document purchases- Identifier-driven purchasing. Purchases are enforced by unique identifier (DOI/PMID), with a canonical metadata resolver and de-duplication against the existing library.
- Confirmation and access control. A two-step "verify DOI/title" confirmation is required and purchasing is licence-based. If the wrong PDF is delivered, the error is immediately noticeable and a refund is issued.
- Guidance. Documentation and training on the purchase process are provided through onboarding and the General Guidance section. If you receive the wrong document, Report a problem or a bug.
Reliable, identifier-driven acquisition outweighs the residual risk of an erroneous purchase, which is further reduced by two-step confirmation and role-based access controls.
