Why do I find different results when I compare the official database and Flinn?

We created Flinn to provide you with access to the entire content of official incident databases, such as MAUDE, BfArM, and others. This means that every report in an official incident database is also available through Flinn. Additionally, all data and information related to a given report can be easily accessed in the Flinn database.

In certain cases, you will see more information on Flinn than on official databases such as additional event descriptions or reports in other languages. They are sometimes only available for directly connected tools and not via the search interface of the database.

Furthermore, we designed our search engine to enable users to create complex boolean search queries and filtering options, and to search across every data field for every report.

This quality-driven decision explains why a search on Flinn might return more results than the same search on an official incident database.

We are happy to help with any additional questions regarding the search engine logic. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
