I can't see the PDF when I open a safety report

Flinn displays the report PDFs for Swissmedic, BfArM, ANSM,  SwissMedic, AEMPS and MHRA directly in the app, so you don't have to download them. If a PDF looks empty or won't open, work through these checks:

1. Check that a PDF exists

Some reports don't have a PDF attached. Click View original (top-right) to confirm, and try a few other results to see whether the issue is specific to one report.

2. Check for multiple PDFs / languages

Some reports include more than one PDF (for example, different languages). Use the arrows at the bottom of the viewer to page through all of them.

3. Set your browser to open PDFs in the browser

Some browsers are set to download PDFs instead of displaying them. Make sure yours is set to open PDFs in-browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Additional content settings → PDF documents → select Open PDFs in Chrome (not "Download PDFs").
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Site permissions → All permissions → PDF documents → turn off "Always download PDF files."
