How the ICTRP search works on Flinn
Flinn's ICTRP search returns clinical trials that were published or updated within your specified date range — not just trials first published in that window.
In addition to "Date of registration" Flinn indexes clinical trial updates using the "Last refreshed" date. The "Date of registration" is still displayed in the result list and detail view for transparency, alongside the "Last refreshed" date.
This ensures you find clinical trials that are active within your timeframe and don't miss important updates — especially for trials that run over multiple years.
What this means for your search
Because trials are matched on both registration and last-refresh dates, you can expect to see a higher number of results when re-running an ICTRP search or starting a new one, compared to a search that only matched on registration date.
